Sport High Schools that activate in Turkey and where students who are skilled at sports have their secondary education are found to be suitable place to study on. In this study, it is aimed to study perception of teachers working and students studying in these institutions regarding learning climate. 342 teachers and 557 students that participated in the study voluntarily are considered to be the best universe taking part in the study in daily basis. In terms of data collection tool, Camur’s “Learning Climate Scale” with its Turkish adaptation in the year 2006 is used by considering its sub-dimensions. The participants are reached through sharing prepared research form in on-line social media sport high school groups. In order to find out learning climate perception of both teachers and students, determining statistics is used where, t-test and one-way variance analysis is used for comparing independent samples based on demographic features, and in order to find the relationships in the study, Pearson r relationship analysis is applied. In the end of the analyses made, it is found out that physical education and sports teachers have negative impression about learning climate in sport high schools (n=120, mean=3,304). Teachers of other fields working at sport high schools displayed highly negative impression (n=222, mean=2,828). Students studying at these institutions on the other hand displayed lesser levels of negative impression when compared to teachers (n=557, mean=3,637). As a result, when sport high schools are investigated based on learning climate, it is concluded that; both teachers and students do not meet at an appropriate education environment due to current status in those schools

    Hybrid Yarn Composites for Construction

Textile-reinforced concrete (TRC) is a new innovative construction material that leads to light-weight and cost-effective construction. TRC consists of a finely grained cement-based matrix and high-performance, continuous multifilament yarns made of alkali-resistant glass, carbon, or polymer. Using these fibers provides superior mechanical properties and corrosion resistance in comparison with ferroconcrete. The application of epoxy resin coating to the textile materials improves the utilization of mechanical performance and handling properties as well. In recent years, researchers have studied alternative methods because coating process is very detailed and epoxy resin is of high cost. The experimental part of this chapter focuses on the experimental investigation carried out on high-strength concrete reinforced with hybrid yarns. Braiding technology was used to manufacture hybrid yarn from alkali-resistant glass fiber (ARG) and polypropylene (PP) filament. Next step, thermoplastic part of braided yarn was melted on press heating. Finally, TRC was produced from ARG, coated ARG, carbon fiber, coated carbon fiber, and heated hybrid yarns. Although the contribution of the heated hybrid yarn is limited, it is expected that the desired results will be obtained by changes in braiding yarn production and yarn composition ratios

Apart from working hours and personal needs of individuals, they need to spend time for fun, listening, many activities that bring together their interests and personal preferences. One of the most well-known of these needs is tourism activities. Behaviors that affect participation in leisure time tourism activities is an issue that needs to be examined. In this context, the aim of the research is to examine the holiday buying and holiday motivation, revisit behaviors of individuals using social media. The population of the research consists of individuals using social media in Eskişehir. With the convenience sampling method, 409 people from state universities throughout Eskişehir were reached in the form of face-to-face and online forms. In order to collect data, the Effect of Social Media on Tourists' Holiday Decisions developed by (Eşitti & Işık 2015), Purchasing Intent Scale developed by (Pavlou & Gefen, 2004), Tourism Motivation Scale developed by (Carrol & Alexandris, 1997) and finally (Altunışık) v.d, 2001) were used to use the Revisit Intention Scales. In the analysis of the data, SPSS 26 program was used and analyzes were made. In these analyzes, a positive and significant relationship was determined between the individuals' social media use, holiday purchase and holiday motivation, and revisit levels. As a result, it has been concluded that the high level of participation of individuals using social media in purchasing a holiday, together with their socio-economic status, positively affects their holiday motivations and revisit attitudes. In addition, the information obtained can be useful for tourism businesses, travel agencies and businesses serving in the recreation industry

10th Japanese-Mediterranean Workshop on Applied Electromagnetic Engineering for Magnetic, Superconducting, Multifunctional and Nano Materials, JAPMED’10 2017; Izmir; Turkey; 4 July 2017 through 8 July 2017Conductive polymer-electrospun polymer nanofiber network was combined to host iron oxide nanoparticles providing micrometer thick sensing interface. The sensor has fabricated as freestanding fabric exhibiting 10 to 100 KOhm base resistivity upon bias applied. The moving object has been sensed through the electrostatic interactions between fibers and object. The sensing range has been found to be 1-5 cm above the surface of fabric. By the controlled combination of conductive polymers electrospun polymer nanofibers effective device miniaturization has been provided without loss of performance. The noncontact motion sensor platform has unique flexibility and light weight holding a potential for wearable sensor technology

Does the Addition of a Dynamic Pedicle Screw to a Fusion Segment Prevent Adjacent Segment Pathology in the Lumbar Spine?

    Get PDF
Study DesignRetrospective clinical cohort study.Purpose To investigate whether the combined use of dynamic pedicle screws and polyaxial pedicle screws was effective on adjacent segment pathology (ASP).Overview of LiteratureVarious screw and rod models have been recently developed for preventing adjacent segment disease, and hybrid systems have been described along with posterior instrumentation in the fusion segment. In the literature, although the success of dynamic systems has been demonstrated in non-fusion posterior instrumentation, it remains unclear whether the addition of a screw-based dynamic system to a fusion segment would successfully prevent ASP in the long term.MethodsThe study included 101 patients who underwent surgery for degenerative spine diseases between 2007 and 2014 with lumbar stabilization that used either polyaxial pedicle screws alone or polyaxial pedicle screws plus dynamic stabilization screws (with hinged screw heads). These two patient groups were compared using retrospectively obtained postoperative new clinical findings, Oswestry disability index (ODI) scores, visual analog scale (VAS) scores, and radiological data.ResultsThe proportion of patients with ASP who were radiologically assessed was low (p 0.05).ConclusionsAlthough the combined use of dynamic screws and the static system was radiologically found to be effective for preventing ASP in patients who underwent lumbar fusion with posterior instrumentation, it did not completely eliminate ASP or result in a significant improvement in clinical ASP

    Get PDF
We describe our effort on automated extraction of socio-political events from news in the scope of a workshop and a shared task we organized at Language Resources and Evaluation Conference (LREC 2020). We believe the event extraction studies in computational linguistics and social and political sciences should further support each other in order to enable large scale socio-political event information collection across sources, countries, and languages. The event consists of regular research papers and a shared task, which is about event sentence coreference identification (ESCI), tracks. All submissions were reviewed by five members of the program committee. The workshop attracted research papers related to evaluation of machine learning methodologies, language resources, material conflict forecasting, and a shared task participation report in the scope of socio-political event information collection. It has shown us the volume and variety of both the data sources and event information collection approaches related to socio-political events and the need to fill the gap between automated text processing techniques and requirements of social and political sciences
